Adjunct Faculty, Visual Communications & Design (Graphic Design)

This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.

About the Role

Teaches a full range of courses in visual communications and design for print, web, and interactive media.

• Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomes
• Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts
• Evaluates and grades students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations
• Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines
• Available to students for coaching
• Attends periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College relative to teaching duties and training and development

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Design or related field
• Ability to teach Visual Communication and Graphic Design courses
• Proficiency in communication and presentation
• Proficiency in industry standard design software
• Minimum of 2 years recent relevant professional work in a graphic design related field
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent)
• Advanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skills
• Appropriately responds to the needs of the community

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional graphic design portfolio that includes web design and interactive interface design
• Teaching experience

Pay

$942.00 per Equated Semester Unit (ESU)

To be determined based on business unit needs. Classes may be offered during the day, evening, and/or weekend.
