Adjunct Faculty - School of Information Technology (IvyOnline) - Software Development

About the role

This current opening has a hire date for Fall 2026. Online Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating an online learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of the provided single version course. Courses are taught completely online in primarily 8-week format.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
• Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging online students with their learning.
• Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality online educational environment.

• Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 (see link below) for the specific area(s) of instruction.

Qualifications

• Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 (see link below) for the specific area(s) of instruction.
• Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher, from a regionally accredited institution, in information technology as appropriate to the program.
• Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the field, Two years of in-field professional employment, Documented evidence of information technology teaching excellence, including date of award, Documentation of research and publication in the field, Documentation of relevant additional information technology coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.
• Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in software development, computer information systems, management information systems, information technology, computer science or a computer-related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in one or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the information technology field, Two years of in-field professional employment, Documented evidence of information technology teaching excellence including date of award, Documentation of research and publication in the field, Documentation of relevant additional coursework beyond the introductory principle(s) level in an information technology field equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.
• For only SDEV 120 - Computing Logic, SDEV 140 Intro to Software Development, or SDEV 153 Web Site Development, Meets the Software Development program standard or, Possesses an earned out-of-field bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the information technology field, Four years of employment in the information technology field, Documentation of research and publication in the field, Documentation of relevant additional coursework beyond the introductory principle(s) level in an information technology field equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.
• K12 Teaching endorsement in Information Technology related pathway.

Skills

• Online instructor experience.
• Certifications (CompTia A+, Net+, Security+, Project+, PMP, CCNA, Oracle, CISSP, etc.).
• Cloud computing (AWS) experience.
