About the Role
Adjunct faculty members at Colorado Mountain College assist students in their learning process by utilizing available staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. The role emphasizes facilitating learning across communities, with teaching as the primary responsibility. Faculty are also encouraged to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities to support student success. Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses and evaluate student learning.
- Develop and submit course outlines, syllabi, and measurable course objectives.
- Maintain accurate course records and complete required forms.
- Hold office hours and provide student consultation.
- Assist with advising, orientation, registration, and student recruitment.
- Engage in scholarly and creative activities to enhance discipline expertise.
- Participate in service activities, including campus committees, assessment, program review, and mentoring peers.
- Prepare lesson plans aligned with approved course objectives.
- Develop professional rapport with students and staff to encourage communication.
- Represent the college professionally in the community and district.
- Engage in required professional development for credentialing.
- Supervise student employees, if applicable.
- Adhere to college safety and compliance policies.
- May require travel and evening/weekend hours.
Requirements
- Minimum of a master’s degree in the specific field for the position or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in a related field (e.g., business, finance, management, or marketing for business roles).
- One year of full-time teaching experience or equivalent adjunct teaching experience; higher education teaching experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong background in computers and technology.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to research, analyze data, and work independently toward goals and deadlines.
- Commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated passion for dynamic classroom experiences and student support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of teaching experience with knowledge of pedagogy.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational abilities in additional languages.
Working Conditions
- Constant sitting; occasional walking, standing, and driving.
- Occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling, and reaching with hands/arms.
- Frequent use of finger movements (e.g., typing).
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
- Constant written and oral communication; occasional reasoning, analyzing, and performing calculations.
- Daily use of computers and standard office equipment.
- May require travel and evening/weekend hours.
This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee. Successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle records report (if applicable) is required. Employees must perform duties within the State of Colorado and accurately report work location.
