Adjunct Faculty - Professional and Career Studies Division
About the role
The Professional and Career Studies Division at Central Virginia Community College seeks qualified individuals to serve as adjunct faculty. This division includes courses in applied science and non-associate degree occupational fields such as mechatronics, information systems technology, culinary arts, EMT/EMS, respiratory therapy, medical laboratory technology, welding, electrical, HVAC, business, management, administration of justice, administrative management, cyber security, nuclear technician, radiologic technology, machine tool, early childhood development, health sciences, industrial maintenance, medical coding, and more.
Responsibilities
- Effectively plan and teach courses in a classroom, laboratory, and online environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
- Work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, and community members with a commitment to diversity as a learning outcome to be culturally respectful, professionally competent, and civically responsible.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Requirements
- A master’s degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in the specific discipline.
- An associates degree or equivalent for career and technical education courses.
- Official transcripts will be required prior to final offer.
- Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
- Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.
- Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely.
- All teaching positions of Central Virginia Community College require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities including virtually.
- Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development.
Qualifications

Skills
Teaching experience, work experience in the field, experience with on-line teaching, substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both the synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution.
