PURPOSE AND SCOPE
It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community.

Essential Job Functions
- Teaches courses in the Certified Personal Trainer Program under Continuing Education
- Aids in the development and maintenance of the curriculum and program growth
- Complies with ACE (American Council on Exercise) requirements for the program and assists in providing exam support to candidates
- Teaches courses at a variety of times and locations
- SUBMIT TIMELY REQUIRED COLLEGE REPORTS AND FORMS
- Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
- Advise students in academic matters
- Provides timely, quality access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods
- Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs them in a timely manner of their progress
- Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities
- Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling
- Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
- Receiving detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound
- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading
Work Schedule And Conditions
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
- HOURS WILL VARY DEPENDING ON CLASS TIME; INSTRUCTORS ARE REQUIRED TO MEET WITH CLASSES AT ALL SCHEDULED TIMES AND BE AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS OUTSIDE OF CLASS INSTRUCTION
Required Qualifications
- PFit, ACE or NASM Certified Personal Trainer
- At least 3 years of related work experience in the field
Salary
$55.44 per contact hour.
