Responsibilities

  • Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of the course outcomes in the curriculum.
  • Proactively support all facets of the learning environment.
  • Provide education through learning-centered instruction that meets the evolving needs of the marketplace.
  • Create an educational environment that values mutual responsibility, respect, diversity, ethics, and personal/professional development.
  • Ensure the South University philosophy is considered in carrying out duties and responsibilities, including quality service to students, development of employees, and an environment conducive to innovation, positive thinking, and expansion.
  • Promote the stature of academic programs, departments, and colleges by participating in relevant activities.
  • Manage the educational process by maintaining accurate records, submitting grades and reports on time, and enforcing academic and attendance policies.
  • Continue professional/technical skills development, introduce industry perspective into courses, and stay informed about professional/industry trends and opportunities.
  • Participate in the faculty development process to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities in learner-centered instruction.
  • Communicate consistently and effectively with supervisor(s), faculty, and other South University administrators.
  • Contribute to a learning culture by participating in curriculum and system task forces, supporting local campus events, and attending various workshops and meetings.

Requirements

  • PhD in a field related to the classes to be taught is preferred, master's degree required.
  • Zero to two years’ experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution.
  • Experience in Obstetrics and/or Pediatrics required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.
  • Outstanding conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.
  • Computer-based skills (software, analytical, and report writing skills).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet frequently occurring deadlines.
  • Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse school/campus constituents.
  • Ability to develop and complete projects without continued direct supervision.
  • Ability to learn from students' participation, demonstrate fair and consistent behavior, and show compassion without being ineffectual.
  • Ability to perform with legal and ethical boundaries.
