About the Role

As an Adjunct Faculty member at American College of Education, you will maintain a strong academic presence and contribute to professional development through teaching, scholarly or creative works, and service to the profession and college. You will report to and work directly under the department chair, who provides guidance on academic responsibilities, service, and professional growth.

Responsibilities

Academic and Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach online courses assigned by ACE using approved course content and materials.
  • Interact directly with students in a professional manner to support and enhance their learning experience.
  • Facilitate a safe and productive online learning environment.
  • Respond promptly to student requests for information, clarification, or personal queries, and engage with inactive students as needed.
  • Oversee course quality by reviewing functionality and content to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Enhance the student experience by incorporating personal insights, professional knowledge, or unique perspectives into course content.
  • Monitor and provide timely, appropriate feedback on student assignments in alignment with college policies.
  • Synthesize and report student performance data in a timely manner.

Service to Students, Department, College, and Community

  • Support and uphold the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the program and institution.
  • Guide students on ethical conduct, particularly regarding plagiarism and copyright infringement, and follow appropriate reporting procedures for infractions.
  • Direct students to supplemental resources to enhance their skills and abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to promote the vision, mission, and culture of the college.
  • Provide leadership within your sphere of responsibilities.

Professional Development

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of curricula and industry trends by participating in workshops, reviewing publications, establishing networks, and engaging in professional societies.
  • Stay informed about emerging issues and trends relevant to the department.
  • Support and promote research to ensure the quality of program and course offerings.

Requirements

  • Earned terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DNP, DNE) or exceptional content knowledge at the master’s level in a field associated with the department.
  • Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in required states or multi-state licensure.
  • Current Certified Nurse Educator certification (e.g., CNE, CNEcl).
  • 5+ years of full-time clinical experience in the area(s) of teaching responsibility, with knowledge of adult teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing online/virtual professional relationships.
  • Evidence of professional research, creative endeavors, and expertise in the field.
  • Proven teacher leadership in higher education; remote experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze sophisticated educational research documents.
  • Current knowledge of online teaching principles and techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to use or learn conferencing and learning management systems.
  • Strong understanding of appropriate relationships between students, colleagues, and leadership.

Work Environment

  • This is a remote role requiring collaboration in a virtual environment.
  • Internet bandwidth must meet minimum requirements: 50Mbps download and 5Mbps upload speeds (higher if shared across multiple devices).
