Adjunct Faculty Librarian

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide reference services to students in person, via chat, and by phone
• Prepare for and teach library information literacy "one-shot" classes
• Teach assigned student workshops on a variety of topics
• Meet with students to provide individual research assistance
• Create and maintain online research guides (libguides) as assigned
• Participate in department and institutional assessments of student learning and in department and institutional surveys
• Maintain records of appointments and reference interactions
• Engage in professional development activities to maintain professional skills and currency in the profession
• Perform professional librarian duties as assigned
• Participate in department meetings

Requirements

• Master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association
• PREFERRED: Experience in an academic library, experience in the area for which the individual is being hired, e.g., reference, library instruction etc.
• FAMILIARITY WITH SPRINGSHARE SUITE (FOR EXAMPLE LIBGUIDES, LIBANSWERS, LIBCAL)
• SECOND MASTER'S DEGREE
• FL exibility TO WORK AT EITHER OF OUR CAMPUSES (DESLINES PLAINS AND SKOKIE) AND REMOTELY AS SCHEDULED
• COMMITMENT TO STUDENT-CENTERED LIBRARY SERVICE AND CULTURALLY COMPETENT PEDAGOGY
