About the role
Ivy Tech Community College - Terre Haute Campus is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach IVYT Classes during the day face-to-face in a classroom on the Terre Haute Campus. Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities
- Create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals.
- Provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
- Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
- Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
- Show evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
- Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner.
- Comply with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
- Ensure knowledge of and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.
- Meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
- Appreciate, respect, and promote diversity of people, styles, and views.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement: Earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in English, Education, or a related discipline; completed a minimum of nine credit hours at the college level in composition and/or rhetoric.
- Preferred: Earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in English, or earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester credit hours in English, linguistics, or courses related to the writing process.
