Adjunct Faculty- Graphic and Media Design

About the role

Virginia Peninsula Community College seeks adjunct faculty to teach Graphic and Media Design courses. This position offers flexibility in teaching load and location.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver instruction for day, evening, or weekend classes.
• Responsible for student assessment and grading.
• Maintain adequate on-campus presence.
• Provide timely communication with students, staff, and administrators.
• May be required to assist the agency or state government in emergencies.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least 18 graduate semester credits in Graphic and Media Design or a related discipline.
• Demonstrate passion for Graphic and Media Design and a commitment to serving diverse students.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Adobe suite of design and editing programs.
• Demonstrated ability to teach Type Design, Layout Design, and Web Design.
• Willingness to adopt an organized plan of instruction and modify methods to meet diverse student needs.
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and submit documentation as required.
• Must be able to work at all campus locations.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree and 18 graduate semester credits in Graphic and Media Design or a related field.
• Experience teaching online, hybrid, and traditional face-to-face classroom modalities is preferred.
• Proficiency in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas).
• Demonstrated ability to measure, assess, and align student outcomes within courses or programs.
• Operation of a State Vehicle is not required.
• Supervises employees is not applicable.
• Required travel is necessary.
