This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.

About the Role

Teaches a full range of Film and Media Arts courses.

  • Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomes
  • Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts
  • Evaluates and grades students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations
  • Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines
  • Available to students for coaching
  • Attends periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College relative to teaching duties and training and development

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a media-related field
  • 2 years of recent professional experience in a preproduction/post-production motion media capacity
  • Strong diverse portfolio representing a professional level of media production and post-production for purposes ranging between entertainment, business, documentary, training/tutorial, and/or marketing
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent)
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skills
  • Appropriately responds to the needs of the community

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a media-related field
  • Industry train-the-trainer certification in a relevant software
  • Membership in industry-recognized professional organization such as the ACE, ASC, DGA, PGA, SOC, ASA, or IATSE
  • 5 years of recent professional experience in a preproduction/post-production motion media capacity
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with a range of aspects of production, such as producing, planning, scheduling, scouting, camera operation/cinematography, lighting, sound recording, supervising or executing associated motion graphics, and delivery formats
  • Demonstrated proficiency in video editing, post-production workflow, and media-management
  • Demonstrated experience in writing/scripting for film or media
  • Familiarity with contemporary production environments, set operations, and set etiquette
  • Interest and knowledge in continued study of emerging digital filmmaking tools and technologies
  • Advanced-level expertise in one or more of the above-mentioned aspects of Media Arts/Film Production or Post
  • Teaching experience

Pay

$942.00 per Equated Semester Unit (ESU)

Schedule

To be determined based on business unit needs. Classes may be offered during the day, evening, and/or weekend.
