Adjunct Faculty, Environmental and Sustainability Studies

About the role

The Department of Geography, Planning, and Sustainability seeks adjunct instructors in Environmental and Sustainability Studies, including Environmental Policy, Law, and Regulations, Sustainable Commerce, Environmental Humanities, Sustainability Studies, Natural Resource Management, and related fields. The department welcomes special topics proposals from adjuncts.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Environmental and Sustainability Studies, including Environmental Policy, Law, and Regulations, Sustainable Commerce, Environmental Humanities, Sustainability Studies, Natural Resource Management, and related fields.
• Work closely with the Chair of Geography, Planning, and Sustainability to determine course schedules, which are typically offered in the evenings but can also be arranged during weekdays.
• Engage with a committed and engaged student body.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in the field in which you are teaching is preferred.
• Work experience in the teaching field may substitute for a master’s degree in the teaching field, but a master’s degree is required.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to teach effectively in a variety of formats, including evening classes.

Benefits

• Adjuncts are provided with a minimum of $1,975 per credit for all courses taught.
• The maximum teaching load is 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year.
• Courses are assigned to instructors by College & Department on an as-needed basis.

Schedule

Courses are typically offered in the evenings, but other scheduling options are available in consultation with the Chair of Geography, Planning, and Sustainability.
