About the Role

Strayer University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member to teach undergraduate-level English and Communications classes in a hybrid format for the fall quarter, starting October 5, 2026. This role requires teaching courses both in-person and asynchronously online, with 11 in-person sessions (2 hours each) held weekly at a predetermined time. The remainder of the course is instructed online. Adjunct Faculty serve as instructors, coaches, and mentors, fostering a strong faculty-student relationship and building a community in the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses using a pre-designed curriculum while incorporating professional expertise to provide high-quality instruction.
  • Enhance curriculum strength and effectiveness using technology and videos.
  • Arrive on-campus at least half an hour prior to the start of in-person sessions each week during the academic quarter.
  • Utilize the online learning platform to enrich the student learning experience for the online component of the course.
  • Be available to students via email, phone, text, and office hours to provide timely feedback and support academic success.
  • Establish high standards and ensure students understand evaluation criteria.
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Attend faculty meetings, workshops, or training as required.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in English, English Education, or Communications or a Master’s degree in a related area with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter hours of graduate coursework in Composition, Communications, and/or Literature.
  • A terminal degree, or progress toward one, is preferred.
  • Professional certification in discipline specialty (if applicable).
  • Ability to travel weekly to the required campus location.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic technology and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in academic evaluation.
  • Excellent oral presentation, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.

Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience are strongly preferred.

Pay

Compensation for Adjunct Faculty ranges from $2,300 to $3,100 per course, based on the number and type of courses taught in a given quarter.
