Adjunct Faculty - Clinical/Lab Nursing Instructor - Associate Degree Nursing Program
About the role
The Adjunct Instructor will provide direction, supervision, and instruction in the clinical area. Responsibilities include making expectations and objectives clear, selecting clients/experiences based on the clinical focus, participating in teaching clinical procedures, assisting with data interpretation, conducting pre- and post-conferences, supervising students during clinical and lab hours, recording and maintaining anecdotal notes, providing ongoing feedback, evaluating students, and participating in faculty evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Make expectations and objectives clear for clinical assignments
- Select clients and/or experiences based on the clinical focus
- Participate in teaching clinical procedures
- Absorb and interpret clinical data with students
- Conduct pre- and post-conference sessions daily
- Supervise students during clinical and lab hours
- Hold students accountable to program policies and standards
- Record and maintain anecdotal notes of student performance
- Provide ongoing constructive verbal and written feedback
- Attend divisional, program, or level meetings as required
- Inform the Nursing Programs Administrator or course lead instructors of any agency problems/concerns
- Discuss agency problems with nurse managers, where appropriate
- Formally evaluate students on clinical performance at midterms and ends of terms
- Hold private conferences with students for performance reviews
- Participate in divisional faculty evaluation process according to divisional policy
- Attend full-time/part-time faculty meetings once each semester
Requirements
- RN with current, unencumbered, valid Ohio License
- Maintained currency in the specialty area through periodic reading, seminar attendance, instructional development program attendance, and/or work experience
- Experience in nursing practice for at least two years
- Minimum of a BSN required
- Preferred: MSN
