Adjunct Faculty, Architecture
Job Description
Responsible to prepare and deliver Architecture coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to student success and creating an environment that promotes belonging for all and knowledge of the teaching field.
Maintains regular office hours to assist students and improve student retention and success.
Contributes to the development of course curriculum for specific architecture courses as necessary within the Associate of Science degree program in Architecture.
Principal Professional Standards
- Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
- Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.
- Comply with published college policies and procedures and meet professional standards for teaching in a community college.
- Appropriate use of the college's learning management system.
Technology
- Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
- Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, etc.).
Required Education
- Bachelor's in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited institution plus architectural licensure in a U.S. jurisdiction;
- or Master's degree in Architecture or Architecture Studies;
- or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Architecture.
Required Work Experience
- Three (3) years of documented professional experience in architectural design and building project production using current technology and software's with expertise in commercial and residential architectural design, structural assemblies, and building systems including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Preferred Work Experience
- College level teaching experience including production of curriculum materials (i.e. syllabi, curriculum, lecture materials, videos, student handouts) in the field of Architecture.
Additional Requirements
- Active architectural licensure/registration is preferred.
