Adjunct Faculty - Agriculture (IvyOnline)

Online Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis to create an online learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and to provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of the provided single version master course. Courses are taught completely online in primarily 8-week (rarely 16-week) format. Only candidates who plan to reside in and work from the states of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio will be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives, following IvyOnline’s minimum expectations for Online Adjunct Faculty as outlined in the Academic Support and Operations Manual, Policy 7.5.2.
  • Implement best practices from the online teaching best practices list.
  • Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways to impact student learning and ensure a positive experience.
  • Develop and implement teaching strategies focused on engaging online students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines, and expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, quality online educational environment.
  • Foster a workplace culture that values and respects varied perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, encouraging open communication and mutual respect.
  • Perform other duties logically associated with this position while adhering to FERPA, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Meet faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction. View ASOM 7.1.
  • For Agriculture faculty, meet one of the following criteria:
    • Earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Agriculture Education, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Systems Management, Agronomy, Animal Science, Botany, Horticulture, or Plant Science.
    • Current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Course Outline of Record (COR).
    • Earned associate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program’s discipline, and two years of directly related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous online teaching experience.

Other Requirements

  • Selected candidates will undergo pre-employment background checks, including a criminal history check; employment is contingent upon the outcome.
