Adjunct Cosmetology Instructor
About the role
The primary purpose and function of this position is to deliver instruction and support student success. This includes developing course syllabi, outlines, and lesson plans, creating lectures, classroom activities, laboratory exercises, and actual work site exercises, monitoring and recording student progress, administering tests or other evaluation methods, grading exercises, homework assignments, and tests, and keeping records of student attendance.
Responsibilities
- Develop course syllabi, outlines, and lesson plans for curriculum courses assigned.
- Create lectures, classroom activities, laboratory, hands-on exercises, and/or actual work site exercises for students to participate and learn.
- Maintain current knowledge of the cosmetology industry, salon management, cosmetician science, nail technology, esthetics, instructor training, and fashion concepts.
- Operate salon equipment.
- Maintain high academic standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and campus activities as required.
Requirements
- Associate in Applied Science degree (Cosmetology) with current and active Cosmetology and Cosmetology Instructor Licenses required.
- Degrees and hours must be from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Must have current NC State Board of Cosmetic Arts certifications.
- One year of community college teaching experience preferred.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include an Associate in Applied Science degree (Cosmetology) with current and active Cosmetology and Cosmetology Instructor Licenses required. Degrees and hours must be from a regionally accredited college or university, and must have current NC State Board of Cosmetic Arts certifications. One year of community college teaching experience is preferred.
Skills
Knowledge of the cosmetology industry, salon management, cosmetician science, nail technology, esthetics, instructor training, and fashion concepts. Ability to operate salon equipment.
