About the role

Hondros College of Nursing seeks adjunct Clinical Faculty members to assist course Faculty in implementing the clinical component of a nursing program. The role involves supervising student practice, evaluating student performance, and providing feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes a positive learning environment in classroom, on-campus labs and clinical sites
  • Advises nursing students on course, program, and career issues
  • Evaluates each student’s achievement and progress; recommends strategies for success and tutors students to assist them in meeting course objectives
  • Works collaboratively with the course Faculty member to implement the clinical component of a nursing course
  • Sets and communicates clinical objectives within the course framework to students, preceptor and staff at the clinical site
  • Supervises student experiences in accordance with OAC Chapter 4723-5-20
  • Acts as an ambassador of the College at all times when interacting with colleagues, staff, students, patients and families
  • Participates in evaluative studies related to program improvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is required
  • At least three years full-time or part-time experience in the practice of nursing
  • Active Indiana RN license that has never been encumbered
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (BCLS) compliant with the American Heart Association
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to supervise nursing students and provide direction at a clinical site
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve or recommend solutions to moderately complex problems
  • Ability to coordinate student assignments
  • Sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Work under pressure and manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact diplomatically with a variety of individuals at various organizational levels
  • Knowledge of nursing theories, standards, and practice
  • Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and ability to differentiate between LPN and RN scope of practice
  • General knowledge of teaching-learning strategies utilized in nursing education and outcomes assessment

General Credentialing Requirements

  • Provide copies of official transcripts for all degrees earned
  • Provide a copy of current American Heart Association BLS or ACLS CPR card
  • Complete a physical form (from within the last 12 months)
  • Immunization documentation for:
    • Hepatitis B
    • Meningococcal Meningitis
    • Rabies Vaccine
    • Tetanus
    • Tuberculosis (2 step)
    • Varicella
    • Flu (October 1 – April 1 hires)
