Adjunct, Central Sterile Processing Technology (CPT)

Position Summary The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community, and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. MassBay Community College is seeking qualified part-time Central Processing Technology adjunct instructors to help prepare the next generation of Central Sterile Supply professionals for a high-demand field with a critical workforce shortage. This exciting opportunity may be filled by one instructor who teaches across lectures, lab, and clinical experiences, or by two instructors who share the didactic, lab, and clinical components of the role. Instructors should bring current certification and professional expertise in Central Processing and/or Surgical Technology. The role includes engaging students in lectures and labs, supporting clinical readiness, coordinating with healthcare partners, and helping students follow college and hospital protocols. Clinical responsibilities include serving as a point of contact for students and site partners, conducting scheduled clinical visits, monitoring required documentation, and collaborating with the Surgical Services Program Director and faculty to support a strong, student-centered program. Semester, Days, Times Fall 2026 Lecture & Lab: Mondays, 6:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m. Spring 2027 Lecture & Lab: Mondays, 6:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m. Summer 2028 Lecture & Lab: Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. Clinical visits occur during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. The Clinical Instructor will visit students weekly at clinical sites during daytime and some evening hours, Monday through Thursday, on a variable schedule. Key Responsibilities And Duties Teach lecture and lab content in alignment with the approved curriculum, required protocols, and course expectations; Develop and maintain course materials that support student learning and program goals; Create an engaging, inclusive learning environment that promotes student success; Monitor student progress, communicate promptly with program leadership, and support students’ academic and clinical needs; Assist students in organizing and maintaining required attendance, clinical, and program documentation; Visit students at clinical sites, communicate with preceptors, and assess student performance in the clinical setting; Participate in course and program assessment, accreditation, compliance reporting, and continuous improvement activities; Document and verify that students complete required clinical hours and that faculty visit sites while students are present; Maintain current professional knowledge and relevant healthcare experience in the discipline; Use College technology effectively to teach, assess learning, and communicate with students; Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dean or designee. Additional Responsibilities And Duties Outside Of Teaching The Course Serve as Program Organizer by supporting program implementation, information sessions, new-student orientations, clinical partner communication, and resolution of student concerns. Collaborate with admissions and advising, communicating with prospective students, reporting program progress and outcomes between semesters and during the summer, and helping establish and maintain clinical sites. This Framingham-based role requires occasional travel and on-campus presence with advance notice; much of the work may be completed remotely. Compensation is $35 per hour for up to 8 hours per week, though the role typically requires 4–6 hours per week. This list is not to be considered all-inclusive. Required Qualifications Associate degree in Surgical Technology or higher; or certificate in Central Processing Technology, CRCST certification, or Surgical Technology (CST) certification; Minimum of four (4) years of recent experience in Central Processing Technology, Surgical Technology, or a closely related field; Exemplary interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; Organized and punctual.
