Job Responsibilities
The Adjunct CDL Instructor performs the following functions:
- Teach both classroom theory and practical driving skills to students preparing for their Commercial Driver's License.
- Ensure students learn to operate commercial vehicles safely.
- Deliver curriculum, provide course syllabus, grading/attendance policy, and other relevant information in a timely manner.
- Relate instructional materials, discussions, and examples and illustrations.
- Pace the instructor over the academic term.
- Provide students with timely assessments and return assessment results in a timely manner.
- Relate assessments to course objectives.
- Follow acceptable department and college grading policies.
- Utilize appropriate instructional technology.
- Maintain a positive environment for optimum student performance.
- Submit reports in a timely manner.
- Practice effective class management.
- Prioritize duties and use time wisely.
- Adequately adhere to class schedules and meeting times.
- Provide effective classroom/lab supervision.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Handle students’ work and records in a professional manner.
- Perform other duties as required.
- At least 21 years of age.
- A valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
- At least two years of driving experience.
- Provide a valid medical certificate.
- Complete a departmentally approved driver training course, including: 34 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours behind-the-wheel (BTW) training.
- Pass a departmentally approved written test.
- Hold a valid Class A CDL.
- Have at least two years of driving experience.
