Adjunct Barbering
General Duties
- Deliver instruction in barbering theory and practical skills, including but not limited to haircutting, shaving, beard design, chemical services, sanitation, safety, and state board preparation.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with program curriculum and state regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate and supervise hands-on techniques in a lab/clinic environment.
- Evaluate student performance through written, practical, and competency-based assessments.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and required documentation in accordance with institutional policies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and infection control standards in the lab/clinic setting.
- Provide academic guidance and support to students.
- Participate in required faculty meetings, professional development, and institutional training.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, techniques, and state licensure requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Barber License in good standing (state-required).
- Current Tennessee Barber Instructor License.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent professional barbering experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching or training experience in barbering or a related field.
- Experience working in post-secondary or technical education.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field.
- Experience with competency-based education and/or learning management systems.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Demonstrated expertise in barbering techniques and industry best practices.
- Ability to effectively demonstrate hands-on skills in a clinical setting.
- Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to student success and workforce readiness.
Pay Range
$30 an hour
