Adjunct - AY27 Culinary Arts Instructor

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the largest community college district in the United States, comprising nine colleges serving over 40 cities in Southern California. LACCD offers instruction to 225,000 students annually in 600 associate degree and 400 certificate programs.

About the Role

LACCD is accepting applications for Adjunct Culinary Arts Instructor positions for the 2027 Academic School Year to establish a pool of qualified applicants. When a campus has an opening, the hiring location will pull applications from this pool. Applicants must reapply to this pool even if they applied to previous pools in this discipline.

LACCD seeks dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions to engage and educate students. Applicants may indicate their preferred LACCD colleges for employment and may be interviewed by Culinary Arts Department members at one or more campuses. Final assignments are contingent upon enrollment, funding, and class availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field AND two (2) years of full-time related professional experience OR
• Associate degree in any field AND six (6) years of full-time related professional experience.
• Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
• A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable Qualifications

• American Culinary Federation Certification (CCE).
• Previous teaching experience in a college or university educational setting using lab facilities.
• Certified ServSafe Instructor AND a Registered ServSafe Proctor.

Requirements

• A medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students is required at the applicant’s expense after selection and prior to employment.
• All students and employees must be fully vaccinated per LACCD Board of Trustees’ Policy 2900. Newly hired employees must provide vaccination status prior to starting.

Responsibilities

The adjunct instructor will teach a range of courses within the Culinary Arts discipline, fostering engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning. The successful candidate will demonstrate cultural responsiveness in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.

Pay

The salary for adjunct instructors begins at $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
