About the role
Kennedy King College is seeking a part-time faculty member to teach automotive technology. The ideal candidate should have a passion for teaching and learning, and be committed to the college's mission.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate courses by delivering engaging lectures and guiding classroom discussions.
- Counsel students on academic progress and course-related questions.
- Prepare clear, organized lectures and instructional materials.
- Grade assignments, exams, and projects promptly with constructive feedback.
- Participate in committees and activities that contribute to the college community and its goals.
- Demonstrate strong content expertise in the discipline, ensuring accurate and up-to-date instruction.
- Apply innovative pedagogy that engages students through active learning and real-world connections.
- Embrace a cooperative approach, collaborating effectively with colleagues and department members.
- Show a deep commitment to student mentoring, providing guidance and support for academic and career success.
- Align with and actively support the mission of the college, fostering equity, inclusion, and student achievement.
- Employ a variety of teaching methods to meet students' varying learning needs, abilities, and interests and to optimize student outcomes.
Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Science in Auto Technology and 3-4 years of work experience in the field.
- Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written skills required with the ability to communicate persuasively with tact and diplomacy.
- The ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment.
- Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
- Knowledge of Brightspace or similar Learning Management System preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
Pay
The starting salary for this position is $800.00 - $943.00 per contact hour. The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salary scale.
Schedule
Contact hours are determined based on the college's schedule and workload requirements.
