Adjunct Associate Professor of Animation and Digital Arts – Business of Animation

About the role

The John C. Hench Division of Animation + Digital Arts within USC’s School of Cinematic Arts seeks an Adjunct Associate Professor to teach a graduate-level Business of Animation course for Fall 2026. Classes are held in person on the USC campus in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

• Teach a graduate Business of Animation course to MFA students.
• Draw on professional experience to provide first-hand insight into animation industry business practices and trends.
• Leverage hands-on production experience from development through postproduction on animated features and/or episodic series.
• Collaborate with directors and studio executives, and advise on nurturing and hiring creative talent.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: BA or BFA from an accredited university.
• Minimum Experience: 15 years of professional experience in animated features and/or animated episodic series.
• Significant professional experience at major animation studios in production, studio management, and/or talent management.
• Current engagement in the entertainment industry with up-to-date knowledge of industry practices and trends.

Qualifications

• Preferred Education: MFA from an accredited university.
• Preferred Experience: Demonstrated teaching experience, ideally at the college level, but also including professional and community seminars, workshops, and mentorships.

Pay

The core salary range for this position is $38 – $43.75 per hour. Salary offers are determined by factors including the scope of responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and external market considerations.

Schedule

This is an adjunct appointment. Adjunct faculty typically teach one course per year, with exceptional cases allowing one course per semester upon dean approval.
