Adjunct Assistant Professor or Instructor
Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for an adjunct position in Environmental Studies within the Department of Earth and Environment to teach one section of ENE117: Environment and Human Values.
About the Role
This introductory course serves as the gateway to the Environmental Studies major and minor and is also taken by students across disciplines. The course explores:
- Historical and modern attitudes toward nature
- Human use of natural resources
- The effects of science and technology on environmental attitudes and practices
- Human impact on environmental alteration
Key concepts include human population growth, "limits to growth," and the challenges of managing common pool resources.
Responsibilities
- Teach one in-person section of ENE117 beginning January 19, 2027, through the end of the spring semester (May 21, 2027), with an employment period extending two weeks beyond the semester.
Requirements
- Possess or be close to completing a doctorate (or terminal degree) in an environmentally relevant social science field, such as geography, anthropology, sociology, history, political science, or a closely related discipline.
- Teaching experience is preferred.
