Adjunct Assistant Professor - Clinical Laboratory Science Program

Long Island University's Department of Diagnostic Health Professions, Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) Program at the Post Campus in Brookville, NY, invites applications for an Adjunct Assistant Professor beginning the 2026–2027 academic year. The successful candidate will teach CLS major courses, specifically clinical chemistry, hematology and blood bank, and immunology. CLS major courses are indicated in the CLS curriculum as posted on the MS and BS CLS webpages. Teaching may also include non-CLS courses offered by the biomedical sciences section of the department.

About the Program

The CLS Program is NAACLS-accredited through 2027 and is registered with NYSEDOP as licensure-qualifying.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • ASCP-certified with New York State CLS Generalist License
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in the areas of teaching interest
  • B.S. will be considered if ASCP-certified with teaching and clinical laboratory experience
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of clinical laboratory experience
  • Three years of teaching experience: classroom, seminars, and one-to-one
  • Ability to teach various courses and labs in the CLS major curriculum
  • Experience with interprofessional education
  • Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes

Pay

$1,000–$1,350 per credit. FLSA: Non-Exempt.
