About the role
We are seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to lead and execute design and development activities for additive manufactured components and assemblies. Key responsibilities include directing design and development activities, interfacing with various engineering groups, and supporting the operation of additive manufacturing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Acts as Project Manager for internally and externally funded Design/Development programs
- Develops new manufacturing methods for valve components and assemblies via Additive Manufacturing
- Reviews specifications for compliance with proposed Additive Manufacturing technologies
- Evaluates and implements use of new Additive technologies
- Selects and recommends new Additive equipment
- Oversees procurements and installations of new equipment
- Develops Additive procedures and training of personnel for the utilization of new equipment
- Supports operation of Additive equipment
- Prepares 3D models, 2D layouts, assembly, and detail drawings
- Performs analysis and calculations to support and justify Additive Designs
- Defines and executes qualification test programs for Additive Manufactured components/assemblies
- Designs necessary tooling and fixtures required to support Additive Manufacturing processes
- Standardizes processes for Additive Manufacturing Methods and manufacturing techniques
- Interfaces with Manufacturing, Welding and Quality Control to ensure manufacturability and inspectability of components designed
Requirements
- Four (4) year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Welding, or Manufacturing)
- Minimum of two (2) years of 2D and 3D CAD experience
- Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing technologies and industry requirements
- Knowledge of computer-controlled machine tools
- Knowledge of analysis techniques (tolerance/fit-up, structural, thermal, flow, etc.)
- Working knowledge of NAVSEA 250-1500-1, ASME B&PV Code and/or SDB-63/VDM-71, as well as other applicable industry codes (e.g. Y14.5, B16.5, B16.34, B18.3, B31.1) preferred
- Knowledge of Welding technologies and processes
- Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Mathcad, LabVIEW, NX, Teamcenter and manufacturing equipment software
Qualifications
- US citizen with (or ability to obtain) a Government Security Clearance

- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software
- Experience with computer-controlled machine tools and analysis techniques
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
