About the role
You will apply new autonomous system solutions and technologies to semi or fully autonomous systems. The role involves decomposing customer requirements into system-level (L6) requirements for both hardware and software, managing these requirements in DevOps, and collaborating with Machine System teams to deliver autonomous features. You will ensure clear documentation, traceability, and serve as a subject matter expert for Surface Loading Machine Autonomous Solutions while communicating system readiness and technical risk to stakeholders.
This position focuses on defining requirements and architecture for autonomous machine systems, particularly within the Loading, Dozing & Compaction Application Team. You will develop system integration requirements for multiple onboard electronic systems, including process and people interactions, while balancing trade-offs between time, resources, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Decompose customer requirements into achievable technical requirements for autonomous systems.
- Manage system-level requirements and related features in DevOps.
- Collaborate with Machine System teams to determine component selection and system integration for autonomous features.
- Ensure clear documentation and traceability of system requirements and designs.
- Communicate system readiness, technical risks, and design trade-offs to stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Work with global teams to develop and communicate the rationale behind agreed features.
- Document system details and ensure compliance and understanding across subsystem teams.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree accepted with full 5 years of experience).
- Experience working on production products through design, implementation, customer rollout, and support.
- Ability to decompose complex customer requirements into achievable technical requirements.
- Knowledge and experience with autonomous systems and systems integration over CAN and Ethernet.
- Strong communication skills for documenting and explaining complex concepts and designs.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $94,000 - $100,000 USD per year (Mossville, IL).
