About the role
The Adaptive Playground Program Counselor is responsible for providing therapeutic support and supervision at an adaptive playground facility. The role involves facilitating play activities that promote social interaction and physical development.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions to children with disabilities
- Supervise play activities to ensure safety and adherence to program guidelines
- Collaborate with other professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Document progress and communicate with families and team members
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, or related field
- At least one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
Qualifications
- Knowledge of adaptive playground equipment and techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with children and families
- Experience with behavior management and crisis intervention
Skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
