Adapted Special Education Teacher

About the role

The position is for the 2026-2027 school year. We are seeking an Adapted Special Education Teacher to teach students in our private day school setting. The role involves motivating individuals to positively impact young people's lives.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement weekly lesson plans.
• Administer formal and informal assessments to measure student growth and mastery.
• Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Identify and intervene with students at academic risk.
• Participate in professional development activities.
• Assist in implementing school policies and maintaining classroom order.
• Maintain accurate records as required.
• Attend and participate in Community School Committee and Advisory Committee meetings.

Requirements

• Virginia Special Education Teaching License (preferred) or license eligible.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Ability to work year-round with built-in breaks.
• Safety-Care Certification (training provided).
• Valid Virginia Drivers' License, proof of insurance, satisfactory Driving Record (less than 5 demerit points).
• Monday-Friday 8AM-4PM schedule.
• Driving record must not have certain violations within the last 5 years.
