JOB SUMMARY

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff member who reflects the diversity of Bronx County’s 1.4 million residents and works towards making the Bronx safer through fair justice. The Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau (VCEB), part of the Investigations Division, combats violent gangs and firearms trafficking through aggressive investigation and prosecution. VCEB partners with various agencies to convert intelligence into proactive investigations and prosecutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct investigations
• Organize and present grand jury presentations
• Pursue prosecutions, including meeting discovery obligations, drafting motions and responses
• Engage in plea negotiations, conduct hearings and trials
• Maintain current knowledge of investigative methods and relevant law
• Analyze trends of gang violence and develop strategies
• Participate in meetings and conferences with law enforcement agencies
• Communicate across organizational levels, both internally and externally
• Collaborate with the Crime Strategies Bureau and other bureaus to share intelligence
• Perform other duties as required
• Available nights, weekends and holidays

QUALIFICATIONS

• Juris Doctorate degree and admission to New York State Bar in Good Standing required
• US Citizenship and New York State residency are required as of the first day of employment
• 3+ years of experience performing long-term criminal investigations
• Experience in cultivating and using confidential informants and cooperating witnesses
• Significant experience with drafting and reviewing search warrant applications, 2703(d) orders, pen registers and eavesdropping warrants
• Significant grand jury experience
• Trial experience in violent crime, gang prosecutions, gun violence, complex conspiracies and criminal enterprises
• Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality
• Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
• Significant experience investigating complex conspiracies and criminal enterprises
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
• Knowledge of NYS courts and the criminal justice system

Salary Range

$97,000 - $178,000
