Description

The Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison contributes to the discovery, development, and delivery of Boehringer Ingelheim's products. This role involves field-based scientific exchanges, building relationships with Scientific Experts, and providing product and pipeline therapeutic area expertise.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Proactively conduct scientific exchange with Scientific Experts to support Scientific Objectives (SOs).
  • Establish and maintain scientific relationships with Scientific Experts, understanding healthcare systems and clinical practices.
  • Act as a scientific resource to Scientific Experts and Healthcare Providers (HCPs), answering specific questions and providing disease state education.
  • Develop a medical engagement plan for the territory, aligning with management and providing internal and external scientific support.
  • Monitor and adjust the medical engagement plan to better achieve SOs.
  • Support identification and development of scientific materials and training needs.
  • Maintain regular communication with the regional MSL team for insights, best practices, and learning.
  • Interact with study investigators and facilitate communications regarding Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS), External Collaborative Research, and company study contracts.
  • Provide additional scientific support for Medicine and Scientific Affairs activities, including support for scientific congresses and medical information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus advanced degree or relevant experience.
  • MSL experience in a relevant therapeutic area, with 2+ years preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpretation of scientific data, knowledge of regional healthcare systems, and field-based job with 50% travel.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
