Acute MRI Technologist

About the Role

This is a multi-modality II position to perform MRI (primary modality), CT, and/or X-ray (secondary modality) at Banner Ocotillo Medical Center, a small facility operating with minimal on-site staff and a capacity of up to 120 beds. The team prioritizes patient-centered care and fosters a collaborative, family-like work environment.

Schedule

7:00 AM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with slight variations due to business needs.

Responsibilities

• Performs prescribed medical imaging procedures (MRI, CT, X-ray) in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Ensures optimal care and treatment for the patient population using independent judgment and established methodologies.
• Educates patients and families regarding procedures and treatments.
• Demonstrates professional behavior and fosters teamwork to achieve quality patient outcomes.
• Produces high-quality images and prepares/presents them with pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
• Maintains accurate documentation and adheres to safety policies.
• Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, troubleshoots issues, and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
• Performs prescribed invasive/interventional procedures, if applicable, in accordance with established policies.
• Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors.
• Ensures ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to radiology practice, including confidentiality of work information.
• Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of services.
• Rotates and covers department scheduling as needed in areas where certifications apply.

Requirements

• Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) based on modalities in which work will be conducted.
• State licensure by the applicable regulatory agency.
• BLS (CPR) certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of Radiologic Technologist experience.
• Must be actively working in each certified modality as required by the facility.
• Certification in at least two of the following modalities (or one from Level I and one from Level II):
  • Ultrasound
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
  • Nuclear Medicine (CNMT)
  • Position Emission Tomography (PET)
• Preferred: ARRT (MR) & (RT) or (CT), MRTBE certifications.

Work Environment

• Facility: Banner Ocotillo Medical Center, a 124-bed hospital with shelled space for future growth, offering emergency care, intensive care, endoscopy, cardiac catheterization, imaging, surgical, and women’s services.
• Technology: State-of-the-art equipment, including:
  • MRI: Siemens Aera 1
  • X-ray: Philips (Fluoro), Carestream (Diagnostic and portables), GE C-arm, Orthoscan mini-C-arm
  • CT: GE
  • Speech pathology: Tims
• Exams performed: General, interventional, musculoskeletal, limited neurology, cardiovascular, and more.
• Services provided for: Outpatients, inpatients (ED, OBS, ICU, surgery, WIS, acute care).
• Team structure:
  • Monday to Friday: 1 MR tech, 3 multi-modality XR/CT techs.
  • Saturday and Sunday (day shift): 1 MR tech, 2 multi-modality XR/CT techs, 1 Imaging Assistant.
• Patient volume: Average of 5 MRI patients, 32 CT patients, and 32 X-ray patients daily.
• Community: Growing, family-oriented area with easy access to education and recreation resources. Average patient age is middle-aged.
