Acute Inpatient Registered Nurse - RN
About the role
The Inpatient Services RN CAP 1 is an entry-level registered nurse responsible for delivering and coordinating clinically competent care for assigned patients. This includes assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and delegation of tasks to care staff. The role involves participation in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities within the kidney care team.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments, document data, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Provide patient and family education on care and treatment processes.
- Monitor patient responses to treatments, administer medications, and manage intradialytic transfusions.
- Recognize patient status changes, report to team members, and participate in emergency responses.
- Coordinate communication among care providers and assist in staff training and orientation.
- Complete necessary training for career advancement and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing School with current state licensure.
- CPR/BLS certification required.
- Minimum 9 months of RN experience, with at least 6 months in dialysis or ICU preferred.
- Entry-level nephrology nursing experience, with a focus on patient-centered, safe care.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Involves direct patient care with physical activities such as lifting, moving patients, and equipment handling. Requires standing, bending, and occasional assistance with heavy machinery. Work conditions include healthcare facility environments with exposure to infectious materials, moderate noise, and temperature control. Flexibility for travel, on-call rotation, and participation in various shifts is expected.
