About the role
Apart from the medical/surgical nursing specialty, this position focuses on acute and chronic illness care in various settings. The nurse must adapt the nursing process to assess, diagnose, and implement plans tailored to the patient's needs.
Responsibilities
- Collects and analyzes data to identify actual or potential health issues and set achievable outcomes.
- Develops and implements a collaborative care plan that promotes health and wellness.
- Evaluates patient progress towards treatment goals and adjusts plans accordingly.
- Provides professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring, fostering caring relationships and mutual respect.
- Advocates for patients and ensures their rights are respected.
- Mentors new nurses and supports student nurses.
- Participates in the evolution of Stormont Vail Health’s professional practice model.
- Ensures evidence-based nursing services are safe, effective, and financially responsible.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Registered Nurse (RN) certification with a Kansas multistate license.
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally, non-verbally, and in writing.
- Mathematical skills for medication administration and equipment calibration.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations.
- Knowledge of nursing processes and patient care.
Qualifications
- Compliance with Stormont Vail Health policies, standards, and mandatory training.
- Adherence to remote work guidelines and policies.
- Physical demands include balancing, carrying, climbing, crawling, crouching, eye/hand/foot coordination, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, operating foot controls, pulling, pushing, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping, talking, walking, repetitive motions, and working in various conditions.
- Working conditions include exposure to burn, chemical, combative patients, dusts, electrical, explosive, extreme temperatures, infectious diseases, mechanical, needle sticks, noise/sounds, other atmospheric conditions, poor ventilation, radiant energy, risk of exposure to blood and body fluids, hazardous drugs, hazards, vibration, and wet/humid environments.
