Acute Care Resource Nurse

About the role

The Acute Care Resource Nurse is a versatile, hospital-wide Registered Nurse who provides dynamic clinical and operational support across multiple units based on real-time patient care needs. Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM), this role ensures safe and efficient patient care by supporting inpatient units with patient assignments, admissions, discharges, high-acuity care, break coverage, and patient flow.

Responsibilities

• Supports inpatient units with patient assignments, admissions, discharges, high-acuity care, break coverage, and patient flow.
• Flexibly assists the Emergency Department, Birthing Center, and Surgical Services during periods of lower census, providing critical care support, triage, behavioral health safety coverage, postpartum overflow, and response to high-acuity events.
• In emergency situations where critical care transport is unavailable, provides advanced clinical support during EMS transport or fills essential staffing roles.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.
• At least 1 year of experience in a resource or clinical lead role, with experience in training and mentoring staff preferred.
• Critical care or emergency care experience highly preferred.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required or obtained upon hire.
