Acute Care Occupational Therapist PRN
About the role
This position is responsible for screening, testing, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating injuries, diseases, and disabilities using occupational therapy procedures and modalities in accordance with standard occupational therapy practices. The role involves consulting, educating, and training patients, families, and caregivers, as well as collaborating with care teams and stakeholders to deliver quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and abides by service standards.
- Provides skilled occupational therapy services, staying updated on standard practices for different patient groups.
- Conducts evaluations and treatments according to professional standards (AOTA), considering diagnosis, history, and physician referrals, and develops care plans with specific goals based on patient assessments.
- Meets established productivity standards for the department or service line.
- Maintains thorough and timely patient records as required by regulations and facility policies, including accurate and prompt patient billing.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers about patient needs and goals to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of rehabilitation services.
- Manages all aspects of patient care and education, including supervising assistants, aides, office staff, and students to ensure high-quality care.
- Participates in and promotes continuing education opportunities for self and staff, seeking new learning opportunities according to licensure requirements.
- Engages in quality improvement processes, including safe equipment use, improving clinical outcomes, patient access, and patient experience.
- Participates in utilization review audits, patient care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, staff meetings, and necessary professional and work groups.
- Contributes to program development and marketing strategies to grow the occupational therapy program and achieve department goals.

Requirements
- Current Occupational Therapist license in states where you work.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Basic computer skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with the target population of the job setting.
- Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions requiring verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly, especially during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, including bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, up to heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining/distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
- Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms with equipment and power cords on the floor.
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.

Intermountain Health Heber Valley Hospital, Intermountain Health Park City Hospital – Park City, Utah.
Pay
The hourly range for this position is $43.09 - $66.47, with the actual rate dependent upon experience.
