Actuarial Intern (winter / spring 2027)

Milliman’s Mountain Gulf Health Practice is seeking motivated current college students or recent graduates for a full-time or part-time seasonal (winter-spring) internship. Interns will assist with consulting for various health insurance work areas, including Commercial / ACA, Behavioral Health, Risk Adjustment, Medicare Advantage and Part D, Medicaid, Dental, and more. This position offers opportunities for professional growth and technical skill development in the healthcare actuarial field.

What You Will Do

• Perform analyses using spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to clean, synthesize, and analyze data and information
• Communicate results to peers and project leaders
• Review the work of your peers
• Prepare and document project files
• Aid in research and business development projects
• Gain valuable experience working with health care data using a variety of software applications

Professional Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and returning to, or recently graduated from an accredited University, or changing careers to the actuarial field
• Working towards, or completed, a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or another major with quantitative course work
• At least one Society of Actuaries exam passed
• Solid understanding of basic actuarial concepts
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to express technical concepts verbally and in writing to diverse audiences
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior internship(s) in health and/or actuarial-related work experience is beneficial but not required
• Exposure to programming (R, SAS, SQL, Python, VBA) is beneficial but not required
• Junior or Senior standing, or recently graduated is preferred, but not required
• Ability to work independently

Location

The Milliman’s Mountain Gulf Health Practice operates under one management group and works remotely. Candidates hired into this role may work remotely anywhere in the US.

Compensation

The overall hourly range for this role is $21 - $46 per hour. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc. For candidates residing in: Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, San Francisco or the District of Columbia the range is - $23 - $46 per hour. All other states - $21 - $37 per hour.
