Actuarial Intern - Summer 2027
About the role
This role requires associates to work from the posted locations full-time, enabling consistent face-to-face collaboration, teamwork, and direct engagement. This policy promotes an environment built on in-person interaction, communication, and immediate support.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to meaningful actuarial projects across business areas, including healthcare cost analysis and trend projection, valuation, risk quantification, and health insurance pricing, while applying analytical skills to real healthcare challenges.
- Develop and strengthen your technical, analytical, communication, and business skills.
- Learn directly from actuarial professionals, leaders, and senior management.
- Gain exposure to the practical application of actuarial methods, tools, and processes at Elevance Health.
- Participate in educational sessions, discussion panels, and other opportunities to learn more about the healthcare industry and Elevance Health.
- Connect with fellow interns and colleagues through networking, social, and volunteer events.
- Present a key project and your findings at the conclusion of the internship.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a BA/BS degree program in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or other related degree.
Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship (5/17/27-8/6/27) on-site at our Indianapolis, IN PulsePoint.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated teamwork and leadership abilities through academic, extracurricular, professional, or community experiences.
- An interest in the actuarial profession and in contributing to the healthcare industry.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with one or more analytical or programming tools such as R, Python, SAS, SQL, or VBA.
- Interest or experience using AI-enabled tools for analysis, automation, or productivity.
- Progress toward actuarial credentials. Candidates who have passed at least one actuarial exam and/or have prior relevant internship or professional experience are especially encouraged to apply.
- A graduation date of Dec 2027 or May 2028 is preferred, but not required.

Schedule
The Actuarial Internship program is a 12-week, full-time program running from May 17th, 2027 – August 6th, 2027. Associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week.
