This position is eligible to work a hybrid (3 days in office per week) schedule from the Des Moines metro** Essential Functions Paid internship working in EMC’s corporate actuarial teamCollaborates with Actuarial Operations/Predictive Analytics team on projectsPerforms basic analysis for Actuarial Operations/Predictive Analytics teamsGathers information for analysisOrganizes data into spreadsheets and databasesCommunicates results of analysis, project updates, and key findings to actuarial leadersDevelops understanding of insurance operations, statistical analysis, data management and computer programming Education & Experience Actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science or related majorCumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of statistics and probabilityStrong analytical, investigation, problem-solving and critical thinking skillsKnowledge of Microsoft Excel & Power BI preferredFamiliarity with R, SAS, SQL &/or Python preferredEffective verbal and written communication skills Potential to Continue with EMC: Depending on business needs and individual performance, interns may have the opportunity to continue working with EMC in a part-time capacity following the internship.
