Responsibilities

  • Use technical skills to do actuarial research and calculations and provide actuarial services and support to other departments
  • Recommend innovative changes to help better serve Principal’s customers through improvements in execution, product enhancements, and/or the use of new technologies

Requirements

  • You have a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • You have successfully completed at least one exam in the education system of the Society of Actuaries is required.
  • You have the ability to continue to pass exams and achieve your FSA designation at an accelerated pace.
  • You are knowledgeable of actuarial mathematics such as probability and statistics, numerical analysis, compound interest, and life contingencies is required.

Skills

  • Multiple actuarial exams completed.
  • Previous actuarial internship or work experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, database and actuarial modeling software.

Benefits

Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly): $73150 - $99750 / year

Time Off Program: Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Pension Eligible: Yes

Work Environments: This role offers the ability for in-office and hybrid (blending both office and remote work in a typical workweek) in our Des Moines, IA office. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
