Actuarial Consultant - ACAS or FCAS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science (or 4 to 10+ years of related actuarial experience in lieu of a degree)
• ACAS or FCAS designation
• P&C insurance experience
• State filing experience with the Department of Insurance (DOI) for personal lines of insurance (preferred)
• Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science

Responsibilities

• Understand and analyze assigned state filing requirements and complete the state filing process, including developing rates, conducting trend analysis, revising rates, preparing documentation for the DOI, obtaining sign‑off from the Lead Actuary, and responding to DOI objections.
• Independently apply complex technical and actuarial methodologies to unstructured projects.
• Select and ensure quality of data used for trend analysis, translate business problems into technical requirements, run required models, and interpret and communicate results to support business activities while maintaining a strong control environment under guidance from the Line of Business Director.
• Utilize actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques to augment actuarial work products.
• Apply knowledge of supported products, stakeholder needs, and industry trends to solve unstructured business problems.
• Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Skills

• Demonstrated competency with actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques and approaches used for fact‑based decision‑making.
• Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, and development of analysis queries and procedures in Python, SQL, or other analysis software.
• Ability to connect external insights to business problems.

Pay

Salary: $100,000 – $150,000
