Actuarial Associate Trainee
About the role
This position performs and supports actuarial work that ensures insurance rates and procedures follow all Pennsylvania insurance laws. Training is designed to develop technical competence in the understanding and application of basic actuarial standards and procedures, as well as laws related to the analysis of life, accident, and health insurance rates, rating procedures, rating plans, schedules, and rules.
Responsibilities
- Actuarial Review: Help compile, analyze, and report large amounts of insurance related data to determine compliance with requirements
- Guided Decision-Making: Learn to accurately and effectively review and approve or disapprove life, accident, and health rate and rule filings; help prepare information for administrative hearings and court proceedings
- Research Assistance: Learn how to research, understand, and apply PA insurance statutes and regulations to a variety of insurance related matters
- Data Call Administration: Help answer formal requests for specific information
- Knowledge Development: Expand insurance and actuarial knowledge through seminars, webinars, literature, or other available resources
Requirements
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: An associate degree that includes 12 college credits in actuary science, data science, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field; or Completion of one part of the Society of Actuaries examination or Casualty Actuarial Society examination; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in actuary science, data science, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field.
