About the Role
Join Ameriprise Financial's Valuation team as an Actuarial Associate, where you'll apply your analytical and modeling skills to support key actuarial valuation activities. In this role, you'll develop and enhance actuarial models, analyze and communicate results to management, and help drive accurate business insights. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor junior team members and interns while continuing to grow your actuarial expertise in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the Corporate Actuarial group with a focus on analyzing GAAP and Statutory reserves for our insurance valuation business.
- Support initiatives to enhance the understanding of Long-Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI).
- Provide technical analysis and support by developing, improving, operating and documenting various actuarial models with limited supervision.
- Prepare job-related reports, summarize and communicate results to middle management.
- Participate in projects within a well-defined scope and responsibility and perform actuarial modeling and analysis.
- Support the validation and development of business controls.
- Maintain professional development to keep Actuarial credentials current.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4 years).
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- All Introductory ASA exams plus 1 Actuarial/Advanced ASA Exam or Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) coursework completion.
- 3 years of actuarial experience.
- Ability to work independently; self-starter.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MS Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI, and other database applications.
Schedule
Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Pay
The estimated base salary for this role is $93,400 - $128,400 per year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
