About the role
Nationwide Financial is seeking a highly technical Actuarial Consultant to join their Annuity Inforce Management team. This role is ideal for an experienced actuary who brings annuity product experience and enjoys a business-facing role.
Responsibilities
- Execute annuity rate setting for Fixed, Indexed, RILA, SPIA, and VA general account products.
- Collaborate with Business Development partners to effectively balance competitiveness and profitability.
- Execute new business profitability analysis on a quarterly basis.
- Develop visualization of profitability results and communicate to management and CFO.
- Develop visualizations for inforce performance metrics such as policyholder behavior, product feature utilization, and sales demographics.
- Support advancement of inforce profitability measurement.
- Support Modernization of rate setting and profitability processes; automating execution, developing controls, and increasing speed of execution.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards for managing non-guaranteed elements.
- Execute special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
- Proficient in Excel
- Proficient in SQL
- AxIS modeling experience a plus
- Programming experience a plus; particularly Python, R, VB.net, and C#
- Tableau and Power BI experience a plus
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to communicate to non-technical audiences
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or similar background requiring modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis
- Generally, has attained ASA and is actively enrolled in the Actuarial Development Program; working towards FSA
Skills
- Proven knowledge of actuarial business functions, statistical methods of analysis, actuarial models, actuarial software and databases
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (including VBA within Access and Excel), analytical software (such as tableau) and programming languages
