About the role

The Actuarial Analyst III role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and implements risk contracts including conducting experience analyses, pricing, filing and settlement work; and prepares management reports supporting new capitation initiatives.
  • Assists in training of actuarial trainees, analysts and specialists.
  • Captures and coordinates/directs special actuarial projects.
  • Serves as a key contributor to Medicare Part D pricing and forecasting activities, with a primary focus on evaluating and modeling the financial impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
  • Supports the development of pricing models used to assess the effects of evolving Part D benefit designs, manufacturer discounts, member cost-sharing changes, and federal risk-sharing provisions.
  • Works closely with the certifying actuary and broader Medicare actuarial team to support bid development, pricing strategy, and financial projections.
  • Analyzes emerging experience, assesses regulatory guidance, translates policy changes into pricing assumptions, and quantifies the impact of legislative and market developments on plan performance.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS and to have passed a minimum of four Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams and a minimum of 3 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, And Experiences

  • SQL/Python experience preferred.
  • Pricing/Valuation experience preferred.
  • Pharmacy experience preferred.

Pay

The salary range for this specific position is $94,560 to $156,024. Locations: Colorado, Virginia.

Schedule

Associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Specific requirements and expectations for time onsite will be discussed as part of the hiring process.
