About the role

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science; 2 to 5 years of related Actuarial experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Minimum of 2 actuarial exams completed in CAS. Must have Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance experience, with preference for personal lines. State filing experience with Department of Insurance (DOI) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and analyze assigned states, completing the state filing process including developing rates, trend analysis, revising rates, preparing documentation for DOI, obtaining sign-off from Lead Actuary, and coordinating responses to any DOI objections.
  • Independently apply complex technical and actuarial methodologies to complete unstructured projects.
  • Select and ensure quality of data used for trend analysis to support rate level indications; translate business problems into technical requirements; run required models and interpret and communicate results to support business activities while executing and enhancing a strong control environment with guidance from a Director.
  • Utilize actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques to augment actuarial work product.
  • Apply understanding of products supported, stakeholders’ needs, and industry trends to solve unstructured business problems.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Skills

  • Demonstrated competency with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques and approaches used to support fact-based decision-making.
  • Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in Python, SQL, or other analysis software.
  • Relevant industry data and methods, with ability to connect external insights to business problems.

Pay

Base salary range: $100,000 to $170,000 per annum.
