About the role

The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City, providing educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department collaborate to offer communities summer and after-school recreational and educational activities. We are seeking Summer Activity Specialists to implement summer-themed programming across various specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure age-appropriate activities are implemented for youth in K-8th grades.
  • At all times, ensure safety, structure, and learning.
  • Provide supervision during summer field trips.
  • Build positive relationships with youth and adults and serve as a role model.
  • Attend meetings with staff, parents, volunteers, and community residents as needed.
  • Interact with parents and maintain open communication channels.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of two years' work experience in a non-profit agency.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Show experience and competency in the material to be taught.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $19.00 per hour.
  • Location: Harlem Center, 441 Manhattan Avenue, NY NY 10026.
