Activity Coordinator

About the Role

The Activity Director leads resident engagement programs in a skilled nursing environment, focusing on promoting residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, facilitate, and direct recreational and therapeutic activities
• Develop and maintain a monthly activity calendar
• Lead group and individual activities tailored to resident interests and care plans
• Participate in resident assessments and care planning as part of the interdisciplinary team
• Document resident participation and progress, communicating updates to medical staff
• Coordinate special events, celebrations, and community activities
• Supervise activity staff and volunteers, ensuring program quality and safety

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years with a high school diploma; additional relevant education preferred
• Experience in senior living or healthcare activity programming is advantageous
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to accurately document and collaborate with care teams
• Physical ability to assist with resident transfers and mobility, including handling weights up to 25 lbs., maneuvering wheelchairs, and supporting resident activities safely
• Adherence to safety procedures and proper resident handling protocols
