About the Role
Plan and facilitate leisure and recreational groups including stretching, fitness, games, yoga (with certification), sports, and arts and crafts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct self in a professional manner, displaying leadership and positive role-modeling with patients and residents.
- Promote a positive, team-oriented approach to patient/resident care and maintain a supportive, collaborative environment with all disciplines.
- Demonstrate a courteous and respectful demeanor; resolve individual issues in a positive, calm, and solution-focused manner.
- Identify concerns and provide input for resolution.
- Comply with Rogers Behavioral Health Policies and Procedures and participate in the Rogers Operating System (ROS).
- Develop an understanding of the ROS process and apply the ROS model to department functions.
- Conduct groups as scheduled and coordinate programming to meet patient/resident interests.
- Complete documentation for patient groups and maintain safety and equipment standards of the Experiential Therapy department.
- Be flexible with work assignments, including schedule changes and program additions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of intervention strategies and use redirection to maintain patient/resident safety.
- Monitor patient/resident behavior and safely intervene using de-escalation techniques and least-restrictive measures.
- Establish therapeutic rapport with patient/resident groups while maintaining professional relationships.
- Attend mandatory in-services and complete required orientation competencies and training.
- Attend Experiential Therapy department and program staff meetings as required.
- Meet with the manager regarding clinical guidance, training, program evaluation, and problem reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., art, music, dance, recreation/fitness) preferred.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with an approved driving record by Rogers Memorial Hospital’s insurance carrier.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR or American Red Cross Professional Rescue certification required within thirty (30) days of hire, with annual re-certification.
- Formal training in management of aggressive patients, including self-defense, required within sixty (60) days of hire, with annual re-certification.
